Dear Cambridge Club Members,
I hope that you all survived the G20 week; as you know we made the decision to close that weekend and we definitely made the right decision given all the protest activity in the area over that weekend. Regardless, glad to see everyone back at the club!
Over the past year, we have been having some issues with the Richmond Tower elevators. We thought that the problem was behind us after they had completed the rebuild of all three elevators but unfortunately that seems to not be the case as of late. Please know, that we are in constant communication with the hotel and are doing everything in our power to ensure the problem is rectified.
Next week, the Cambridge Club will be undergoing an extensive renovation with a expansion of 700 square feet to the free weight area. We expect the construction to take approximately 8 to 10 weeks. During this time, Centre Court, the free weight area and the Sports Lounge will be closed off and the lockers in the Sports Lounge area will be relocated to other areas of the locker room. We will ensure that we communicate any changes to our schedule and other updates as the project moves forward. If you would like to know more about this renovation project, please contact our Property Manager, Dylan Caldwell at dcaldwell@thecambridgeclub.com.
We have a number of member events at the Cambridge Club coming this summer. Next Thursday, July 15th is the Cambridge Group of Clubs’ annual Island Party at the Island Yacht Club. This is an incredible evening, with members from all three of our Toronto Clubs in attendance; last year we had over 500 members and staff attend. Please RSVP at frontdesk@thecambridgeclub.com.
Our annual golf day, this year at King Valley, will take place on Tuesday, July 27th at 8:30 a.m. King Valley is one of the premier courses in the country; a must play for any golfer. Please contact Al Scott at ascott@thecambridgeclub.com to sign up today. Space is limited.
For our racquet enthusiasts, we have a couple of events for you. The Over 80’s Squash Doubles Championships start at the end of the month and our annual Tennis Day at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club is on Thursday, August 5th. Contact Squash Professional, Jamie Bentley at squash@thecambridgeclub.com for more info on these events.
Please enjoy this month’s interactive E-News. Explore the New York Athletic Club, learn how to return the serve in our Squash Tip of the Month, read about how to stay injury free this golf season, and much more.
Thank you for your support. We look forward to the successful completion of the renovations this summer and an even better Cambridge Club ahead.
See you at the Club,
Dean |
