I must admit that I love summer, and not because it’s an opportunity to work on my tan, but the summer is best spent with friends and family and great food and wine. At Stratus, I am always looking for that perfect bottle of wine that will compliment our menu and our guests’ palates.
Here are some of my favourite summer picks.
NV Vouvray Brut, Champalou – Loire Valley, France
This summer sparkler is not only delicious, but it’s one heck of a bargain! 100% Chenin Blanc and made in the traditional method, it will compliment any seafood dishes such as oysters, scallops and even fish and chips. Not only is this a great food wine, but it is also drinks well on it’s own as the perfect summer aperitif.
2013 Chinon Rosé, J.M Raffault – Loire Valley, France
This Chinon, made from 100% Cabernet Franc is a sure summer stunner. The tangy, zippy acidity, makes it the perfect brunch wine to pair with quiche or any egg based dishes. Lined with notes of citrus fruit, rose petals and honey, this rose is sophisticated and sure to impress.
