Adelaide Club Member Profile: Mike Rugirello's Inspirational Transformation
Over the years our Members have shared countless testimonials of increased health and wellness, attributing the influence of living well to the 'club life' environment. Adelaide Club Member, Mike Rugirello, experienced such an incredible transformation - an impact he directly correlates to the professional guidance and advice he has received from the Adelaide Club Team - that he felt compelled to share his journey in own words, below:
I am and have been a committed gym rat for the past 12+ years, 5+ of which have been spent at the Adelaide Club. However, despite all the hard workouts, the hours upon hours spent sweating away on a treadmill or in the weight room, it has been only in the past month or so that the real, dramatic results have been achieved. The cause for this transformation is both simple and direct and can be traced unequivocally to a conversation with and follow up support from an Adelaide Club staff member.
Peter Sheldrick offered a kernel of post-workout nutritional advice one day that the protein shake I was drinking would be much more effectively and efficiently utilized if eaten with an avocado (or any other healthy fat).
The conversation continued with a Body Composition analysis and discussion of both proper nutrition and its role in a complete fitness plan. With commitment on my part to try something new/different and a commitment on Peter’s part to fully support my journey into a healthier lifestyle I have lost over 10lbs and shaved off 3% of body fat (over 7lbs of fat!) in just over a month’s time.
Any time I had tried to "watch what I eat" before the results were never anything meaningful. I feel like I have never really understood nutrition or how the body uses food and so was just blindly trying things without a real plan. Now, I feel like I have more knowledge (of course just one perspective but it seems to be relatively sound) AND found something that actually works.
The suggested nutrition plan was simple, easy to follow, no more cooking than our normal meals, filling & fulfilling, and most of all tasty! My experiences have included measurably more energy, a lack of ups and downs in energy levels, more focus, a lack of bloating, and an overall improvement in mood.
To all those out there in denial that believe a six-pack (or whatever your image of fitness looks like) comes from your work in the gym (ONLY), my decade-long struggle turned into a success in a month would suggest otherwise. Not every diet is right for every person (or it wouldn’t be called a diet, it would just be what everyone eats) but like many things in our lives, you can figure out a little on your own but to really do something right you need to consult a professional, and that is exactly Peter and those wearing black, white & red around the club are there for.
I have felt supported and encouraged by Peter and all staff that I know, including my trainer Kyle Caissie and feel compelled to tell others about not only the results of the nutrition plan and its impacts, but also about the tremendous resource that the club offers (and that I think not nearly enough members take advantage of).
If you are going to go to the gym on any regular basis (or need the motivation or direction to do so), why not make it a complete experience, why not get the most out of your effort, why not feel/look the best you can. Success or not a healthy life is a better life so the effort is never wasted. You can go as far down the rabbit hole as you want to but it is this man’s humble opinion that everyone should at least take a peak to see what their potential can be.
