With temperatures on the rise and no umbrellas in sight, the team at Stratus has come up with an innovative new beverage concept to beat the summer heat. Every morning the breakfast bar team selects and brews a premium loose-leaf tea, which is then chilled, blended with fresh juices, and infused with vibrant natural flavours. Think delicate Japanese green tea with hand-muddled watermelon juice, slices of vibrant green starfruit, fresh mint leaves and sparkling Italian lemonade. With new flavours every day, just ask your server for the featured blend..
This week, we'll have a different infusion each day featuring organic green Yerba Maté from Brazil. Maté is traditionally prepared as a hot beverage and consumed throughout South America in comparable quantities to coffee or tea here in North America. Mildly caffeinated, Maté is packed with vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other nutrients, and boasts an antioxidant profile roughly 90% higher than green tea. Many caffeine-sensitive individuals make the switch to maté as its unique nutrient profile counteracts many of the side effects of caffeine, achieving a prolonged increase in energy levels with no jitters, minimal crash, and very little effect on natural sleep cycles. In a fitness environment, an additional benefit is that drinking maté can increase metabolism and reduce lactic acid buildup in your muscles, so you can work out longer and recover faster.
Try a different inception each day this week featuring flavours like dragonfruit, goji berries, sea buckthorn, lychee, ginger and passionfruit, or have it as a post-workout smoothie blended with berries, banana and vanilla protein.
